Dennis Matthews’ life is unrecognizable since he enrolled in the IDA program. In 1999, Dennis was $10,000 in debt, had lost his job and had taken a new job with a 45% salary reduction. “I was in so much trouble,” he says. “The cost of living was so high.”
These resources come from the SEED Initiative and other IDA and financial education programs across the country. While these are important resources in their own right, they are also included here because they are referenced in CFED’s publication From Piggy Banks to Prosperity: A Guide to Implementing CDAs (September 2008)
Since this is an emerging field, these resources are not yet considered "best practices" by CFED or SEED, but nonentheless represent wisdom from practice and may prove useful in designing and implementing a CDA program. This list is a work in progress and will continue to be updated as new resources become available. The resources are organized below based on the Table of Contents of the Guide to Implementing CDAs.
